
Garri Kasparov : NO politician should go to Sochi
Former chess world champion and Putin critic Garry Kasparov (50) thinks it would be a huge mistake that politicians heading to Sochi Olympics.
I believe that no politicians should go there. It would have been a statement of support for Vladimir Putin and his dictator regime in Russia. Let him rather sit in Sochi with all the world’s villains, says Kasparov in a lengthy interview with NRK.no (in Norwegian).
Kasparov is considered perhaps the all-time best chess player, and the Russian held the world title for 15 years combined. But Kasparov is also politically engaged, and has for several years been an outspoken opponent of Vladimir Putin’s government in Russia.
