
Hard to be gay youth on the Norwegian South Coast (Sørlandet)
Gay youth in Southern Norway struggling to come out, says Skeiv Ungdom.
We note that this is a challenge, says Line Halvorsrud during Saturday’s event in Kristiansand.
Halvorsrud is the leader in Skeiv Ungdom participating in last weekend at the Skeive Sørlandsdager (pride week). The organization is celebrating 10 years, and although there is much celebration and fun on the surface, it is still too severe at the bottom.
Many young people struggle namely to be openly gay, lesbian or transgender (LGBT), and especially in religious communities.
– Religious youth find it difficult to be open in their local communities, says Halvorsrud.
