lgbtSr, the Website Serving over 50 LGBTQ People, Celebrates Four Year Anniversary!
lgbtSr, the website devoted to highlighting issues of interest to LGBTQ people over-50, today marks its four-year anniversary. The online space offers its audience a unique space to view a host of current trends and topics through the lens of middle-age and beyond.
“I’m thrilled to commemorate four exhilarating years of lgbtSr, where age is embraced and life is celebrated,” said the website’s creator, Mark McNease. “lgbtSr was conceived as an online space for those of us who don’t often see our lives reflected in the images around us. From day-one I set out to change that reality by giving our readers a place to go where they could read about people their own age who are living lives to the fullest and thriving, having reached a point in their journeys where they’ve gained a level of wisdom that can only be achieved through the experience of ageing.”
The lgbtSr website is a departure from other sites geared toward older LGBTQ people that are more likely to be resource-focused. While McNease believes sites like SAGE, AARP, and similar websites are vitally important to the older LGBTQ community, his site offers an alternative, which instead features columns, interviews, featured books, items of interest, and the “Aged to Perfection” podcast.
Since it was founded lgbtSr has published hundreds of articles and podcasts featuring authors, artists, business people, health experts, and more, who have shared fascinating personal and professional stories, practical wisdom, and no-nonsense advice.
“I am elated to mark this four-year milestone and look forward to the site continuing to age with me. I plan to keep it going as long as there are things to share and readers to share them with. To use an old phrase about gay people, we are everywhere and we are not going away. We’re old, we’re bold, get used to it.”
