
Gov. Bobby Jindal’s executive order: Travel ban talk and hint at potential backlash
A New York state lawmaker has asked that state's governor to enact a travel ban on Louisiana in response to Gov. Bobby Jindal's recent executive order, which is modeled off religious freedom legislation critics say authorises discrimination of LGBT people.
Assembly Member Daniel O’Donnell made the request following a similar travel ban New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo issued in late March on Indiana, in response to that state’s religious freedom legislation.
Travel bans from a number of states provide examples of the type of backlash Indiana, as well as Arizona, dealt with as a result of anti-LGBT perceptions about those states’ religious freedom measures.
