Gay man runs from homophobic yobs as police step up patrols after second hate crime in days
A man had to escape from homophobic yobs as he left the Metrolink at Monsall on Tuesday night.
Police are stepping up patrols around north Manchester tram stops after the second hate attack in days.
On Tuesday night a man had to flee from homophobic yobs as he got off the Metrolink at Monsall.
At around 11pm he was leaving the tram when two men approached him and asked if he was gay.
When he said yes, they shouted ‘queer b*****d’ and started throwing objects at him.
Only when a passing woman shouted at them to stop did he manage to get away – but not without suffering a cut to his face, possibly as a result of falling over in his desperation to escape.
Police are now investigating, stressing they take hate crimes extremely seriously.
