10 years with the Swedish popstar Amy Diamond
"What's in it for me" was Amy Diamond 's first single and she was 12 years old at the time of release. Now it's 10 years since she started her music career.
Amy Diamond was born in Norrköping, Sweden and here real name is Amy Linnéa Deasismont, she is the second child of an English father, Lee, and a Swedish mother, Chrisbeth, according to Wikipedia.
Aftonbladet reported in 2005 that Amy was ten months old when the family moved to England. The family moved back to Sweden when she was four-and-a-half years old, this time to Jönköping.
“What’s in It for Me” was a commercial success, her music went first over the the borders of neighbouring Nordic countries and then to European countries like Germany, Poland, Lithuania and the Netherlands.
Some of the Swedish TV stations refused to show the music video for “What’s in It for Me”. Swedish music channel ZTV (channel closed down in 2010 do to MTG (the owner) managed to destroy the channel so no one watched it anymore) was one of the channels that wouldn’t show the music video, Aftonbladet reports, arguing that Amy Diamond was too young (turned 13 soon after the release) for the song’s theme about romantic relationships.
Amy Diamond released her 7th album in 2010 and her last album that she released are called “Amy Diamond: Greatest Hits“. It has been quiet around Amy music wise, the main reason is that she has done high school and become a hairdresser.
In 2015 she played a major supporting role in the Swedish movie called Min Lilla Syster (My Little Sister) there she plays the big sister that has the disease anorexia. In 2016 she is the Swedish voice of Maya in the Maya the Bee (Swedish title Biet Maya).
To the Swedish children’s channel Barnkanalen, Amy tells that she is working on some music and she is hopeful that it soon will result in a new music release soon. I’m looking forward to hear new music from the Swedish girl. While waiting you can listen to her hit “What’s in it for me” below.
