Russia’s Sergey Lazarev booed when he entered the Eurovision stage tonight
Even that Russia won a ticket to the Eurovision Grand Final, tonight in the first Eurovision semi-final - Sergey Lazarev got booed when he entered the Eurovision stage tonight in the first of two semi-finals.
Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet reports about booing to Russia when their artist Sergey Lazarev entered the Eurovision stage in tonights semi-final. But the viewers didn’t hear much of it, since EBU has installed anti-booing technology to prevent viewers to hear it.
Sergey Lazarev has previously said to Norwegian TV station and EBU member NRK that he was expecting to be booed during the Eurovision.
He said the following to NRK as well :
Generally, of course people should be able to express their opinion about a country, but compromising the artist standing on stage in this competition, experiencing it as very unfair, for me the artist.
We will agree with Sergey Lazarev, it’s unfair, it’s not him that is running Russia and creates anti-gay laws. Then again this is the only way for the public to show their feeling towards Russian anti-LGBT politics – everyone wish that there was another option to make Russian politician listen – sadly it’s not.
Sergey Lazarev is very LGBT friendly and he will as well be on Stockholm Prides Eurovision event tomorrow.
