Sunday 21st August sees the Great Village Bake Off return to Manchester’s Gay Village. In it’s 4th year, this year’s Bake Off promises to be the best yet!
Hosted by non-other than Manchester’s own Misty Chance who is excited to be hosting the event again this year and said “for budding pros and novices alike, you can enter the ‘Great Village Bake off’ this year held at the Molly House”.
Misty Chance isn’t the only honorary Village Baker, we are pleased to announce that this year’s judges are Sandy Docherty (BBC The Great British Bake Off 2015) and Howard Middleton (BBC The Great British Bake off 2013).
Sandy who first rose to fame on in the 2015 series of The Great British Bake Off she has spent the last few months looking to use her time on the show to benefit others.
The down-to-earth mum from Leeds – who enchanted audiences with her sparkling personality and comedy stylings – was sent packing from the Bake Off tent in 2015 after her crème brûlée was liquid, her meringue disc was less disc, more broken hat box and her cheesecakes were a disaster. But for Sandy, appearing on the show was a positive experience. She said “My best moment was the camaraderie around the bakers and the whole production team”.
Since being on The Great British Bake Off you can often find Sandy at shows, markets and exhibitions giving cooking demonstrations and sharing her wealth of knowledge. Viewers of the Great British Bake Off will remember Sandy for being mischievous and bubbly personality.
Howard was first brought to our screens in the 2013 series of The Great British Bake Off where he made headlines by being the victim of custard theft! Since then he has appeared at numerous food festivals around the country, written a book all about gluten free baking and we are excited for Howard’s return to the judging panel this year. Of his return Howard said ” I’m delighted to be heading back to the village for some serious bun judging, The competition will be hot and fierce… just like the bakers.”
The format of the bake off is as easy as pie: sweet or savoury. Bake whatever you like and bring it along to the Molly House at 1pm on the 21st August, the only limit is that it must fit through the door! Entry is free and tickets can be found at www.villagebakeoff2016.eventbrite.co.uk.
