Thomas Sekelius takes Awakening to Acoustic hights
Swedish Thomas Sekelius are back after his debut single Awakening with a acoustic version the same song, that gives the song a new dimension and luckily MySoCalledGayLife.co.uk has got chance to start the international launch by sharing the beautiful tune with all our readers.
Thomas’ artist debut has been celebrated by both fans and press, with a premiere at Swedish Newspaper Expressen and an interview with Swedish TV4’s Nyhetsmorgon among others.
The single quickly reached the top of Spotify‘s list of the most viral songs in Sweden and took its place on Sveriges Radio P3’s DigiListan of the most streamed and downloaded songs in Sweden in February. In addition, Thomas also received the prestigious award as the year’s LGBT YouTuber at the QX gaygala.
“This song both symbolises my own development and story of coming out of my shell to finally be myself 110%, as well as the entire LGBTQ movement’s achievements, that it has become more and more accepted to be yourself and be different – the future looks bright” says the artist.
The single is written by the songwriters behind Tungevaag & Raaban’s hit single ‘Russian Roulette’ (over 42 million streams on Spotify). Lars Norgren, who’s worked with some of Sweden’s most successful artists such as Tove Lo and Sabina Ddumba, mastered the song. The acoustic version is both emotional and catchy, a solid pop song beautifully preformed with pure and honest lyrics.
Thomas has during his early years undergone a tough time marked by a bad mental health and a fear of not fitting in. Self-harm, eating disorders and extreme anxiety was a part of his everyday life. How Thomas turned his darkness into light and found his passion for YouTube is a hair-raising story that he gladly shares with us all – to help and prevent others from falling into similar pitfalls. With a strong personality and openness filled with humour, warmth and creativity, he has reached improbable impact with his ground-breaking behaviour and is constantly working on breaking the perceptions of masculinity/femininity.
