Apple bans Norwegian sex-ed podcast for youth by public service broadcaster
Norwegian public service broadcaster, NRK's «Juntafil» made a comeback yesterday - as podcast. But you can't find it on iTunes. Apple has put on the brakes...
The radio program, «Juntafil», is back – now as a podcast – to «give their audience more embarrassing honesty about sex, body and emotions».
But when NRK yesterday tried to publish the podcast, they got problems.
– We thought it was a technical problem when we wasn’t able to publish it. It was very strange, so we contacted Apple in the U.S., says podcast manager Vilde Hjort Batzer to Norwegian newspaper VG.
On Wednesday, they received written feedback from Apple that they confirmed that «Juntafil» was not activated because «the show was rejected for explicit language in title, subtitles or description» (standard text these American companies sends out). Europe and Scandinavian countries has evolved, while the U.S. has not evolved and still are in 1950s.
It’s a public education program for Norwegian youth – about sex, body and emotions. It is natural that the word sex is mentioned when the podcast is about sex.
2 year old podcast from the same podcast was «removed» by Apple, when the decided to censure the new edition of the popular podcast. So Apple didn’t have a problem with old podcasts until NRK (that made the world hit tv series SKAM) uploaded a new podcast.
Podcast are available from NRK’s homepage and Apple’s competition regarding podcasts Spotify.
My comment : typical American’s! Where is freedom of speech Apple ?
