Yesterday, «A Long Road To Freedom: The Advocate Celebrates 50 Years» earned a Daytime Emmy Nomination. Written and directed by Billy Clift and produced by two time Emmy-nominee, David Millbern, «A Long Road To Freedom: The Advocate Celebrates 50 Years» secured the nomination in the Outstanding Special Class Special category.
Narrated by Laverne Cox with music by Melissa Etheridge, this moving feature-length documentary focuses on watershed moments in LGBTQ history through never-before-seen footage and engaging interviews with WarnerMedia Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, Caitlyn Jenner, Cleve Jones, Bruce Cohen, Don Lemon, Gloria Allred, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Dustin Lance Black, Margaret Cho, Armistead Maupin, Bruce Vilanch, Greg Louganis, DeRay McKesson, Candis Cayne, Guillermo Diaz, and many more. Starting with the Black Cat Riots, the film covers Stonewall, the disco sexual revolution, the AIDS crisis, marriage equality, and the trans movement to the present day.
