The Great Village Bake Off
The Village Bakers is an LGBTQ social group formed by friends who, inspired by BBC’s ‘Great British Bake Off’, meet monthly to share home made cake, wine and a catch-up.
The group continues to grow in popularity and this August it hosts its 7th annual ‘Bake Off’ event in Manchester’s Gay Village.
The event Needs You and is open to any skill level, from baking fanatics to those who have never before had a bun in the oven!
There are three categories you can enter:
- Beginners Cupcake or Loaf Cake (sweet or savoury)
- LGBT Rainbow Showstopper (sweet or savoury that represents the LGBTQ Community)
- Community group or business
To enter, go to www.villagebakers.lgbt The event is FREE to enter or attend but you need to have pre-registered for a ticket.
There are prizes to be won for each category plus the chance to be crowned Star Baker.
This year’s judge is former ‘Great British Bake Off’ alumni – Howard Middleton (series 4) who commented «The Great Village Bake Off is easily my favourite judging event of the year and I’m thrilled to be asked back again. The competition is always fierce – I’m expecting fabulous flavours and amazing artistry and I know the bakers always rise to the occasion».
Ringmistress for the day will be Misty Chance: «This will be my third or fourth stint as host…I’m not sure, I’m still in a sugar rush from the previous gathering. It’s a joy to see the passion our community demonstrates as their creations become more extravagant».
