
UEFA receive report on homophobia by fans at Hungary game
UEFA have received an official report highlighting homophobia in the stadium at Euro 2020 during Hungary’s 3-0 defeat by Portugal on Wednesday afternoon.
Photographs emerged on social media that demonstrated Hungarian fans raising banners voicing their opposition against LGBTQ+ people inside the Puskas Arena.
The Athletic understands that the FARE (Football against Racism in Europe) anti-discrimination network, who send observers to UEFA matches to report incidents of abuse or unwelcome environments, sent a report to UEFA’s disciplinary committee on Wednesday night and also held conversations with UEFA officials, theathletic.com reports.
Homophobic Hungary is know to be one of Europe’s extremely homophobic countries and known for their homophobic Hungarian government promoting hate in the name of God.
