Nashville Rock and Roller Amy Darling Releases New Video For «Lip Service»
Nashville-based rock and roller Amy Darling has released her new music video for «Lip Service» last Friday.
Filmed by James DeMain and Price Harrison, the high-energy video showcases the punchy, magnetic personality and trademark fashion sense that makes Darling a force to be reckoned with.
Darling’s latest single was tracked live to tape at The Bomb Shelter in Nashville with engineer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Phosphorescent, Hurray For the Riff Raff) and producer Mike Webb (Hank Williams Jr, Bobby Keys) at the helm. It serves as a boisterous, electrified examination of our ever-changing and oftentimes chaotic surroundings. Guitar Girl Magazine praised the track, proudly proclaiming, «Amy Darling puts the ‘roll’ back in ‘rock’»
«’Lip Service’ was written with my guitar player, Kevin Smith, with whom I write all my songs», Darling says. «He had the idea for the hooky guitar riff, and for lyrical content, we sort of just stuck our antenna up in the ether and pulled an observation of the modern world. ‘It’s all happening. What are you gonna do about it?’».>
With each new release, Darling brings the soul and swagger of rock and roll’s classic era back to life, always with her own unique twist.
«Lip Service» follows the summertime release of “Nasty Habits,” a single that quickly earned praise from Audiofemme, Nashville Scene, Folk N Rock, We Own This Town and more, as well as airplay on SiriusXM’s Underground Garage. Also co-written with guitarist Kevin Smith, the song finds Darling reminiscing on a grittier chapter of life, holed-up in her tiny loft in downtown Los Angeles. Rooted in classic rock and roll with a dash of sparkle, the track oozes with the no-fucks-given attitude of early, influential disco-punk. Darling’s fresh perspective infuses elements of shimmery modern pop into the mix, creating a sound that’s both nostalgic and unmistakably current.
In 2018, Darling’s EP Rock ‘N’ Roll Woman also garnered coverage from B-Sides and Badlands, Imperfect Fifth, No Country For New Nashville, Nashville Scene and more. Stay tuned for more new music from Amy Darling to come in 2022.
On Dec. 7, Darling will host her annual Christmas benefit «Rock ‘n Roll ‘n Toys ‘n Tots» at Nashville’s Mercy Lounge. Darling will be joined by Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts, Tennessee Muscle Candy, LG of Thelma & The Sleaze and more. Toy donations will be accepted for Toys For Kathy’s Little Girls & Boys, a toy drive for Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
