The Federation of Gay Games, has just announced that Valencia will host the Gay Games in 2026.

Valencia competed in the final phase with Munich (Germany) and Guadalajara (Mexico), and managed to win the hosting with its Spanish charm, which among other things exudes equality and diversity. In addition, the city can also offer fantastic qualities within infrastructure and sports equipment.

Valencia is, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year, a strong destination in terms of climate; gastronomy and its cultural agenda. Accessibility and communication with the city have also been highlighted as well as the interest in sustainability and green spaces; especially also the opportunities for personal development that the city offers all people, regardless of their gender, ethnic origin, disability or sexual orientation.

The Gay Games is a sporting and cultural event that since 1982 has offered a safe environment for the LGBTQ + community (the association for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people and anyone else who breaks with norms of gender and sexuality) to practicing sports.

Gay Games 2026 will be held between May and June 2026. Valencia will host competitions with more than 30 sports. The event, which will also include various cultural activities, is expected to attract 15,000 athletes and 100,000 visitors, which will have a major economic impact on the city.

Gay Games is thus expected to become one of the most important sporting event in Valencia in 2026.
