Peter Wild hurled sickening homophobic abuse towards a Solihull Moors player – but when questioned he claimed it ‘never crossed his mind to be homophobic.
A man has been convicted following a police probe into vile homophobic abuse at a Solihull Moors football match. Peter Wild (54), was found guilty of the public order offence of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress, birminghammail.co.uk reports.
The investigation was in connection with Solihull Moors’ home game against Stockport County on December 28 2021. At the time, West Midlands Police said according to birminghammail.co.uk, a man in his fifties would be «voluntarily interviewed» as a result.
The Crown Prosecution Service said in a press release that Wild had been fined £398 and ordered to pay costs of £500 at Birmingham Magistrates Court on May 13.
