This speaks to the purpose of 758Pride, which seeks to uplift the LGBTQ+ community and reframe the narrative around non-heterosexual, non-cisgendered people.

Saint Lucia Pride 2022 also aims to educate and sensitise the public, as an essential part of creating change. Activities therefore began with a press launch to engage the public in understanding the impact of stigma and discrimination and their role in co-creating the reality of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people on Saint Lucia.

The first celebratory event for the LGBTQ+ community and allies for Saint Lucia Pride 2022 is a black tie cocktail, hosted by the British High Commission. This is followed by a health and education fair on the morning of Saturday 27 August. The health fair is supported by allies in the private and public sector.

Young people are crucial to generating social transformation and in recognition of this, 758Pride hosts a youth discussion under the 2022 sub-theme «hope for a better tomorrow». Broadcast live from the National Television Network (NTN) at 3pm on Monday 29 August, it will also be live via the 758Pride social media pages.

The final activity for 758Pride is a much-anticipated drag show, the second time such a production is staged by 758Pride. This will cap off Saint Lucia Pride 2022 with a celebration of LGBTQ+ talent.

The 2022 sub-theme supports the main 758Pride theme «Persist with Pride». This is a call to the LGBTQ+ community to continue to assert their right to exist and a reminder that we belong here, as much as any Saint Lucian.
