In a seven-decade career, Humphries, who was renowned for personas including the vulgar Sir Les Patterson, rose to fame and became well-known.
Barry Humphries, an Australian comedian and actor best known for creating Sir Les Patterson and Dame Edna Everage, passed away at the age of 89, theguardian.com reports.
A statement from his family read: «He was completely himself until the very end, never losing his brilliant mind, his unique wit and generosity of spirit».
In 2012, he declared his retirement from the live entertainment industry, stating that he was «starting to feel a bit senior». But ten years later, at the age of 88, he set out on another UK tour.
