This year’s Herts Pride #TogetherAsOne event will feature a chart-topping performance in recognition of the county’s LGBTQ+ community.
At Cassiobury Park in Watford, British R&B girl trio (The) Honeyz is poised to enchant the crowd with their biggest hits from the late 1990s, including «Love of a Lifetime» and «Never Let You Down».
They will not only be the stars who keep the audience amused. Clare Cordell, who appeared on The Voice UK 2022, will be attending Herts Pride for the first time this year.
Herts Pride will be bigger and better than ever before, with market stalls, food stalls, and a community tent where you can get information or assistance from a variety of statutory and voluntary organisations.
There will also be a funfair and a Herts Pride Dog Show for our canine companions to enjoy.
Tyson Martin, Herts Pride Event Director said: “The Pride movement continues to highlight the persecution and injustices that many LGBTQ+ people continue to experience across the world.
«In the UK we have come a long way in LGBTQ+ equality such as protected rights in the workplace, service delivery and same sex marriage, though unfortunately we do continue to face discrimination, prejudice, and harassment here in the UK. Across the world, in some countries, we are seeing people who identify as LGBTQ+ being imprisoned or killed, just for being who they are and loving who they love».
«Although social attitudes in the UK are changing for the good, we should not be naive to the fact that LGBTQ+ people continue to face barriers and there is still a long way to go!»
«I would like to thank our sponsors for supporting Herts Pride 2023 and I look forward to seeing as many people joining in on the celebrations this year».
Cllr Sarah Nelmes, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, one of the event’s sponsors, said: “I am always excited and happy to see the council continue to sponsor this fantastic event that celebrates our amazing diverse communities while also highlighting the discrimination that some people sadly still face today».
«Herts Pride is an event that just keeps getting better and better every year and is a fun-filled, great day out with delicious food and amazing acts to boot».
Herts Pride 2023 takes happen on Saturday, August 19th, from 12pm to 10pm in Cassiobury Park, Watford. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or on the day of the event. At the door, attendees are issued an event wristband.
