Carla, a comedian and drag performer from Bankstown, was supposed to appear at the stall and provide information for young LGBTQ people in western Sydney.
However, the «Wear It Purple» event at Bankstown Central Shopping Centre in late August was cancelled after a group of males began tearing down rainbow flags and spitting and throwing abuse.
The Bankstown pop-up stall attack is the latest in a string of anti-LGBTQ protests, which have included orchestrated disruptions of drag story time events and acts of homophobia and transphobia, theage.com.au reports.
