According to police statistics, hate crimes against transgender persons have increased by 11% in the past year, reaching a record high in England and Wales.

For the first time in ten years, the total number of hate crimes reported to the police in England and Wales has decreased year over year; nevertheless, the number of offences motivated by religious and transgender hatred has increased.

The Home Office said that there were 145,214 hate crime crimes overall in the year ending March 2023, which is a 5% decrease from 153,536 in the previous 12 months. Prior to this, the total had increased yearly since 2012/2013, dailymail.co.uk reports.
