Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 men’s FIFA World Cup confidently, as Australia withdrew its interest in hosting the global showpiece just hours before the bid deadline on Tuesday.
«We have explored the opportunity to bid to host the FIFA World Cup and – having taken all factors into consideration – we have reached the conclusion not to do so for the 2034 competition», Football Australia said in a statement CNN reports.
Australia has chosen to move forward with their bids for the Women’s Asian Cup in 2026 and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2029, demonstrating their commitment to these events. As a result of Australia’s withdrawal, Saudi Arabia is now the sole confirmed bidder for the 2034 tournament, following their bid announcement on October 4 in response to FIFA’s invitation for expressions of interest from Asia and Oceania.
FIFA has officially announced that Saudi Arabia is the sole bidder for the 2034 tournament. Rest assured, FIFA will meticulously carry out the bidding and evaluation procedures for both the 2030 and 2034 tournaments. The hosts for these events will be confirmed by October.
