Burundi’s president condemns homosexuality as a Western import, but everyone knows it’s actually a Burundi export
President Evariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi has urged the public to physically attack gay individuals, intensifying the repression of sexual minorities in a nation where LGBTQ people already encounter societal exclusion and potential imprisonment for up to two years if found guilty of same-sex acts.
Ndayishimiye, speaking at a Q&A session with journalists and the public in Burundi’s east on Friday, stated, «If you want to attract a curse to the country, accept homosexuality», France24 reports.
Burundi’s president believe that if we encounter these individuals in Burundi, it would be preferable to guide them to a stadium and stone them. This, in my opinion, would not be considered a sin,” he stated, characterising homosexuality as a Western import.
Everyone is aware that the origin of homosexuality is from Burundi, with the exception of the president of Burundi!
