Actor Jakob Margido Esp (80) from Trondheim, known for «Flettfrid Andresen», has died.

Niece Terese Esp informed Norwegian newspaper VG that he experienced a deterioration in his health while swimming, prompting his transfer to the hospital via air ambulance. Subsequently, he remained in a medically induced coma for approximately two weeks until his peaceful passing on Tuesday evening, Blikk reports.

Margido Esp debuted as Flettfrid in Nitimen on NRK (Norwegian Public Service) in 1983. The aristocratic figure from Øvre Singsaker swiftly gained popularity, drawing comparisons to, among others, Dame Edna.

In 1995, Esp was honoured with the Taboo Prize for his efforts in raising awareness about mental health issues.

The Taboo Prize is an annual recognition presented by the Council for Mental Health. It acknowledges individuals who have played a role in dismantling taboos and promoting openness about mental health.
