Stonewall won five awards on Friday night at the star-studded Out in the City and g3 Readers’ Awards. Hundreds of guests attended the annual ceremony at the Landmark Hotel in London, which was hosted by actor Sophie Ward and Coronation Street star Charlie Condou.
The magazines’ thousands of readers voted for Stonewall Chief Executive Ben Summerskill to win Out in the City’s Campaigner of the Year Award, while Deputy Chief Executive Laura Doughty won the g3 award in the same category. Stonewall was named Charity of the Year by both magazines, and the charity’s iconic ‘Some People Are Gay. Get Over It!’ campaign – which ran on buses across Britain last year – won Out in the City’s Marketing Campaign of the Year Award.

Accepting Stonewall’s award as Charity of the Year, Ben Summerskill said: ‘Stonewall is a remarkable constellation of dozens of brilliant staff, hundreds of incredible volunteers and tens of thousands of dogged supporters. They have made Stonewall what it is.’
Other guests at the Awards included Paralympics GB’s women’s sitting volleyball captain Claire Harvey, actor Heather Peace and TV presenter Clare Balding.
