
Skatval church can be opened to same-gender marriage
The parish council on Skatval, Norway, discussing whether they should "lend" church say to a priest who says yes to sam-sex marriage. They do after vicar Per Anton Leite congregation says no to same-gender marriage.
We started this discussion in the parish council last year after newspaper headlines around the theme, and how when our parish priest did his stance on the issue clear. But we didn’t concluded at the time, says Ruth Gjerde, chairman of the parish council on Skatval.
Is it the parish council and not the parish priest alone that can decide who gets access to the church?
– It is the parish council that determines the use of the church, says Gjerde.
