Big-hearted «Sort Of» is Viaplay’s next international original series
A sexy bartender at an LGBTQ bar, the youngest child in a large Pakistani family and babysitter for a hipster family. Sabi in Viaplay's and CBC Television new original series «Sort Of» is a multi-faceted character who tries to find his place in the world.
«Sort Of» is a big-hearted series about Sabi Mehboob (Bilal Baig), a fluid millennial who tries to find himself. When Sabi’s best friend offers the opportunity to move to the «most queer place in the galaxy», Sabi instead decides to stay and take care of the children they care for after their mother has had a serious bicycle accident.
«Sort Of» is a colourful and warm series about finding one’s identity in an environment that is constantly changing. We have launched several great young adult series in recent times and it is very fun to now be able to add another title to that genre. «Sort Of» is completely in line with the type of production we want to invest in in this segment, says Filippa Wallestam, EVP and Chief Content Officer at NENT Group.
In addition to Bilal Baig in the lead role as Sabi, we see Gray Powell (ARQ, Designated Survivor), Amanda Cordner (The Expanse), Gregory Ambrose Calderone (The Good Doctor, Salvation), Becca Blackwell (Marriage Story), Cassandra James (General Hospital) ), Ellora Patnaik (Titans, Beauty and the Beast) and Grace Lynn Kung (Fahrenheit 451, Designated Survivor).
The Viaplay original«Sort Of» is directed by Canadian Screen Award nominees Fab Filippo and Renuka Jeyapalan and produced by Sienna Films. The series is distributed by Abacus Media Rights.
