
Coronation Street star backs show in anti-gay slurs row
Coronation Street star Antony Cotton has leapt to the show’s defence after it was rocked by a homophobia row.
The soap’s bosses confirmed this weekend they had been forced to write a memo to all staff after a complaint that anti-gay slurs had been made on the ITV1 show’s Manchester set.
Antony, who was said to be the subject of the remarks, took to Twitter to voice his own opinion on the matter.
In a series of three tweets, he praised Corrie for putting a gay character at the forefront of the show and added that ‘if you want to feel equal and included then Weatherfield is the place to be.’
