NUI Galway students raise over €6,000 to end homophobia
Students from NUI Galway have raised over €6,000 in aid of BeLonG To Youth Services, Ireland’s national organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual & trans young people. Over the last academic year (Sept 14’ – Jun 15’) the Students Union and multiple Student led Clubs & Societies ran fundraising events in aid of BeLonG To including a Sponsored Climb of Croagh Patrick with the NUIG Mountaineering Club.

Today, BeLonG To Youth Services, the national organisation for lesbian, gay, bisexual & trans young people unequivocally welcomes Senator VanTurnhout’s proposed amendment to the Gender Recognition Bill, which was tabled at Report Stage. The amendment would introduce ‘an interim Gender Recognition Certificate’, for Trans young people, providing significant protections for the rights of trans young people in line with international best practice.
