In an apparent attempt to score cheap political points, Tenn. Governor Bill Haslam has ignored the business community and signed into law a bill that wipes out county and city anti-discrimination laws, despite the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry reversing their earlier support and now opposing the bill.
HRC Joins Tennessee’s Business Community in Opposition to Anti-Gay SB 632/HB 600
The Human Rights Campaign, the America’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organisation, and Tennessee’s major businesses are united in opposition to SB 632/HB 600, which prohibits cities and counties from banning discriminatory practices by any means and passed the state legislature earlier this week.
Actions Taken Based on Animus Toward the LGBT Community
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), America’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organisation, rebukes the Tennessee Legislature for passing SB 632 / HB 600, a bill that prohibits cities and counties from banning discriminatory practices by any means. Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has the opportunity to veto the legislation.
