Senator Jeanne Shaheen Introduces Global Respect Act in U.S. Senate
HRC hailed the introduction of the Global Respect Act in the Senate by Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH). The bill would provide a new mechanism to prevent the world’s most anti-LGBT state actors from receiving a visa and entering the United States. The Global Respect Act would make clear to the world that the U.S. is not open to those who abuse, harass, and murder LGBT people.

Global Conference on LGBT Human Rights
The U.S. Department of State and USAID will host the third Conference to Advance the Human Rights of and Promote Inclusive Development for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Persons on November 12-14, in Washington, D.C. Leading U.S. government officials will speak at the event, including Counselor to the Secretary of State, Tom Shannon, and USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah.
