Jury Finds That Anti-LGBT Conversion Therapy Is Fraud
Today, in Michael Ferguson v. JONAH – a case brought by the Southern Poverty Law Center in New Jersey Superior Court against practitioners of so-called “conversion therapy” – the jury found that the defendants providing this dangerous and discredited anti-LGBT practice are guilty of fraud under New Jersey’s consumer protection laws.
TLDEF Applauds United States Justice Department’s Historic Action Supporting Transgender Inmate’s Right To Hormone Treatment
The Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund (TLDEF) responded to news that the United States Department of Justice has filed a brief supporting a transgender prisoner’s right to hormone treatment in her federal case against the Georgia Department of Corrections. This is reportedly the first time the Justice Department has taken action in support of a prisoner’s effort to compel hormone treatment for gender dysphoria, the diagnostic term used to refer to discomfort or distress caused by a difference between a person’s gender identity and their sex assigned at birth.
Human Rights Groups Urge Public Officials Not to Attend Values Voter Summit, Avoid Legitimizing Anti-LGBT Extremism
A coalition of human rights groups is calling on public officials not to attend the upcoming Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., because its host, the Family Research Council, has spread demonizing lies about the LGBT community, and because one of its co-sponsors, the American Family Association, has linked homosexuality to the Holocaust.
