The Anglican Church criticises homosexual marriage in Sweden
In a letter to the archbishop of the Church of Sweden, representants of the Anglican Church is critical to the Church of Sweden for being too liberal with homosexual marriage. This has stirred up a debate within the Church of Sweden writes Svenska Dagbladet (SvD).
It is a correspondance between the English bishops Christopher HIll and John Hind and the Swedish archbishop Anders Wejryd that has caught the media attention in Sweden, writes Stockholm News.
The English bishops are critical to the proposal that homosexuals will have the right to have a church wedding. They write as follows in the letter (translated from a quote from SvD):
“The fact that the Church of Sweden bless homosexuals is problematic (…) what is proposed now appears to be a fundamental redefinition of the Christian doctrine for marriage and of the elementary Christian anthropology.”
