The head of Ontario’s Catholic teachers’ union is defending a donation and partnership with a gay-rights lobby group that is often at odds with the Catholic Church and Catholic school boards.
The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association, which represents 45,000 teachers in the province, gave a $1,000 donation to Egale Canada. The donation was to support Egale’s website mygsa.ca, part of their national safer schools campaign that promotes gay-straight alliance clubs, Toronto Sun reports.
