Coca-Cola : We say, Justice for Martine
The Justice for Martine foundation is initiating a two week global Coca-Cola boycott, starting from March 1st. The boycott is based on the company’s close business relationship with Shaher Abdulhak, father of the murder suspect Farouk Abdulhak, and has during the first two days alone gained more than 13.000 supporters on Facebook.
The multi-national Coca-Cola Company has, during many years, had a close relationship with Farouk Abdulhak’s father, who is seen as one of the wealthiest men in the Middle East. Shaher Abdulhak is the majority owner of Coca-Cola’s company in the region, who manufactures and distributes the latter’s well known brands in Yemen, Libya and Egypt.
As recently featured in the international media, an all-party group from the Norwegian Parliament wrote a letter to a number of Shaher Abdulhak’s business contacts before Christmas, including Coca-Cola, Xerox and Daimler Benz. In this letter, the MPs’ expressed their ethical concerns on international companies with an obligatory social responsibility working closely together with a person who almost undoubtedly has helped conceal a criminal act. A number of sources have now indicated that it was Shaher Abdulhak who helped his son Farouk escape from London on the same night Martine Vik Magnussen was killed in London. According to the same sources, he has kept his son hidden since then.
But, while Daimler Benz, as a result of the above mentioned, recently announced that they were terminating their business relationship with Shaher Abdulhak, Coca-Cola has said that they will not take similar actions. The Justice for Martine foundation have been in contact with the company on various occasions during the last period in time, but the latter have, in spite of this, chose to uphold their standpoint on the matter.
As a result of this, the foundation has now launched a global two-week boycott of all Coca-Colaproducts, starting from March 1st, including all of the company’s known brands such as Fanta, Sprite, Coca-Cola and more. See the full product list here: www.thecocacolacompany.com The boycott is being launched via the Internet site www.justiceformartine.com and the Facebook page “Coca-Cola: Involve yourself! Two weeks from March 1st: JusticeforMartine, and the foundation hopes that both individuals, corporations and public agencies will support the case and avoid buying Coca-Cola products during this period.

Global involvement
The Martine case has attracted interest and involvement across the globe. It is now almost three years since Norwegian Martine Vik Magnussen, a student in London, was found raped and murdered in a backyard in the British capital city. The son of a Yemenite billionaire, Farouk Abdulhak was a fellow student with Martine and was the last person to be seen together with the victim. Shortly after the murder, the British police named him as a suspect.
Investigations showed that Farouk Abdulhak had flown back to Yemen immediately after the murder and is now on Scotland Yard’s Most Wanted list, based on his movements during the hours after the murder and on physical evidence found at the scene of the crime.
