PDA plans California healthcare not warfare tour
Progressive Democrats of America has planned a series of events around the state in late April leading up to the Democratic Party Convention in Sacramento on April 29th. National and local leaders will speak and strategies on the theme "Healthcare NOT Warfare."
Dates include:
Newport Beach, April 25
North Hollywood, April 26
Fresno, April 27
Santa Rosa, April 28
Sacramento, April 29
Speakers at one or more event include:
Healthcare NOT Warfare campaign co-chair Donna Smith, National Director Tim Carpenter, Field Director Conor Boylan, State Coordinator Dr. Bill Honigman, radio host Lila Garrett, Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, Healthcare NOT Warfare co-chair Norman Solomon, and PDA Advisory Board member and Policy Director for the California Nurses Association (CNA)/National Nurses United (NNU) Michael Lighty.
“2010 was a banner year for Democrats in California,” said PDA National Director Tim Carpenter. “Our Party swept every statewide office, and we even expanded our majority in the state legislature. And PDA played a role in this success. But the fight never stops, and we will need to fight to take back the House. We will also need to apply pressure throughout the coming years to make California an example for the nation by turning mere Democrats into aggressive progressives.”
California is the third leg of the “Healthcare NOT Warfare Tour,” which aims to inform voters on how cuts to the excessive U.S. war budget could fund healthcare for all, jobs creation, and address other pressing domestic issues. The first leg of the tour was in Pennsylvania in January, followed by a tour in Arizona in February.
