Former BP chief executive John Browne is urging the international business community to do more to end discrimination against homosexuals in the workplace.

Meanwhile, ExxonMobil shareholders have voted down a proposal that would add gay and transgender employees to the company’s non-discrimination policy.

Lord Browne — speaking at an event in London launching a new lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) network — said he believes the business world “remains more intolerant of homosexuality than other worlds such as the legal profession, the media and the visual arts”, The Upstreamonline.com reports.
