Ben Kelly releases debut EP ‘City Boy’
After winning over 1 million YouTube fans, Ben Kelly gained national recognition in 2012 on BBC’s The Voice UK, with a memorable blind audition performance of ‘Rocket Man’, which saw all four chairs turn for him.
Described by mentor Jessie J as “a ready made pop star”, Ben made a fan in will.i.am, who said “I know a superstar when I see one”.
As a native of Derry, the UK City of Culture 2013, Ben released his debut single ‘Home’ as a song for the city in December 2012, and is now releasing his first full EP.
‘City Boy’ features five brand new tracks, all written by Ben, and produced with D:Ream front man Peter Cunnah, and Ryan McGroarty, from BBC Radio One’s favourite new band The Wonder Villains. The songs are a blend of synth-pop and dance, with piano thrown in for good measure.
The EP is released on Walled City Records, a new label set up by Oran O’Carroll and Damian McGinty – star of hit U.S. TV show Glee.
