Robert Wilkes was blocked from Facebook after a comment about his favourite childhood dish of faggots sparked concerns about homophobia.

A man was banned from Facebook for being homophobic after posting a comment about his favourite childhood dish which read, ‘I like faggots’, just a week after the site lifted a ban on videos of beheadings.

Robert Wilkes, 54, was referring to the traditional British meat balls which are usually made from butchers’ off-cuts minced together with onion and breadcrumbs but he was blocked from the site for 12 hours after other users complained about his language, which can be used as offensive slang for gay men in the US.
