Fijian prime minister Frank Bainimarama says same-sex marriage will not be legal in his lifetime and that gay couples should move to Iceland and stay there.

Prime minister of Fiji Frank Bainimarama has slammed same-sex marriage as “rubbish” and advised same-sex couples to move to Iceland and stay there if they want marriage equality.

The Fiji Sun reports that Mr Bainimarama’s statement was in response to calls for same-sex marriage on a Fijian television news program featuring the head of the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre, Shamima Ali.
