There is a proposal to prepare a new wedding liturgy for gays, and the matter is under a debate in the National Council on Saturday morning. Monday the committee will make decisions on same-sex shall get it own liturgy and could be married in the church, Norwegian newspaper VG.no reports.
National Council of the Norwegian Church prepares the matters to be considered by the General Synod, implement Synod decisions and manage work between Synod meetings.
So this debate is important step to get same-sex marriage in the Church in Norway.
Same-sex marriage became legally recognised in Norway on 1 January 2009, when a gender neutral marriage bill was enacted after being passed by the Norwegian legislature in June 2008.
