He was cut off by relatives after revealing he was gay
Khakan Qureshi considered suicide while trying to conceal his sexuality from his family
A man has told how he was cut off by parts of his family after he revealed he was gay.
Khakan Qureshi has not seen his brother or sister in eight years because he said they refused to accept his sexuality and relationship.
The 48-year-old, who lives in Smethwick with life partner Trevor Green, said he even contemplated suicide at his lowest ebb.
And when he revealed he was gay to his Indian parents at 22, he was met with hostility and anger, birminghammail.co.uk reports.
He said his mother was ‘traumatised’ when he revealed he was gay and he faced hostility and discriminatory comments from his dad.
