You might have heard that prison in the Nordics are a bit different that prison in the U.S or other places, this week «Røver-Pride»( «Robber-Pride») was celebrated at Indre Østfold prison in Eidsberg, Norway!

One of the enthusiasts behind the project is Simen Iskariot Larsen. He has gone from being «inmate to employee» in Røverradion. He is one of the initiators behind what he calls «Røver-Pride», LGBTQ Magazine Blikk reports.

I remember from my own time in Oslo Prison that people talked very badly about gays and especially about gay men. I have also talked to a prison researcher who said that he had never met an openly queer person in prison, says Larsen.

As a former part of Oslo’s drug community, I think it’s strange if there are no gays in prison, because there are very many men who have sex with men in the drug community in Oslo he says to Blikk.
