Poland, 1985. The communist government keeps the country in check.

The most recent campaign authorised by the government is «Operation Hyacinth», which consists of creating a register of gay men all over Poland to «prevent crime».

Robert, a young policeman «with codes», finds a serial gay’s killer. In the course of the investigation, he meets Arek. Robert decides to use him as an informant, not realising how much this relationship will affect not only his work, but also his personal life.
