Gender discrimination in Bulgaria has left many persons in same-sex partnerships despondent. They are neither recognised nor protected.

Darina Koilova and Lilia Babulkova are a married same-sex couple from the United Kingdom. However, the Bulgarian institution continues to deny them.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in Strasbourg found in favour of the Koilova and Babulkova case on Tuesday. The court ordered that the Bulgarian government create a legislative framework that allows same-sex couples to be accepted and secure, european-views.com reports.
