Stonewall, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans equality charity, has kicked off its activity for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia by creating a human rainbow in London’s Southbank.
Formed by Stonewall staff, friends, volunteers and employees from businesses based nearby including the Southbank Centre, the purpose was to send a positive message of equality in the run-up to IDAHOBiT on May 17.
Claire House, International Officer at Stonewall, stood above the group on Jubilee Bridge to assemble them. She orchestrated a one minute cheer for equality, as well as a group ‘stand up for LGBT youth’.
Over the weekend, Barclays will be supporting Stonewall’s NoBystanders campaign across all its ATMs in the UK.
James Taylor, Head of Policy and Campaigns at Stonewall said: ‘International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia brings the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community and its allies from around the world together with one clear message: equality. IDAHOBiT is a great chance not just to celebrate the progress that we’ve made towards LGBT equality but to also think about how much there is left to do both here and abroad’.
Stonewall will also be sharing quotes from young lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people and their allies – including its Young Campaigners of the Year Sirina-Monique and Christian Webb.
