The Romanian government has disputed the European Court of Human Rights’ (ECHR) historic judgement from May, which requires the Romanian state to pass legislation recognising same-sex couples.

In response to Gândul’s request, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that the Romanian state had appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruling of May 23, which requires Romania to recognise and respect the rights of same-sex couples who seek to become legally married.
