Singer talks about son’s ‘coming out’
Singer, Belinda Carlisle who made a name for herself with the all-girl rock band "The Go-Go's" is in Bakersfield sharing her story of being a mom to a young gay man.
“I was driving and you turned to me and you said ‘Mom, I have something to tell you,” said Carisle to her son, James Duke Mason.
Mason opened up to his famous mom about his sexuality, something she always knew, but was still surprised when the words actually came out of his mouth.
“When you’re child tells you, or comes out, the first thing I thought was oh my gosh, what kind of world is he going to be up against . There’s still a lot of homophobia,” she said.
