Task Force: ENDA ‘reflects core U.S. value of fairness’
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Action Fund applauds today’s Senate introduction of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which would protect against workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The measure was introduced by Sens. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.). The House version was introduced in late June.
HBO ranks highest in third annual “GLAAD network responsibility index”
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) today released its third annual Network Responsibility Index, a report that maps the quantity, quality and diversity of images of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people on television. Primetime programming on the five broadcast networks was evaluated as well as original primetime programming on 10 of the highest-rated cable networks.
Football clubs take a stand for gay pride
Representatives for local football clubs, AIK and Hammarby, were among a slew of celebrities showing their support for gay pride by joining the traditional parade through Stockholm on Saturday.
Human Rights Campaign Condemns Israeli LGBT Center Shooting
Late Saturday evening, during a youth meeting at the Aguda LGBT community center headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel, a masked gunman opened fire on a teen support group, killing two and injuring at least 15 more. The two murdered youth were ages 17 and 26.
