Norwegian Sex-Ed TV Show Teaches Kids – we all wished we learned back in the day

The Norwegian Public Service channel NRK, aired TV license founded educational series Newton that ran a recent episode that covers a lot of the things most of us never even heard mentioned in sex ed class, such as homosexuality, how to French kiss, and how to masturbate.

Are Norway taking the lead in sex education in the world ? Could this have been aired in USA – in the land of the free – No – it couldn’t – to much limitations in the land of the free decided by the conservative Christian right wing.

But in Europe – yes we can see it been aired in several countries without problems.

Show host Line Jansrud, shows her viewers how to French kiss (by demonstrating on a tomato), how to give a hickey (by demonstrating with a vacuum on her neck), reminds her viewers of the age of consent (which is 16 years old in Norway), and in the end she tells them not to rush into having sex because “it will happen soon enough.”

The video is giving youths answer on questions they might have in period of puberty and it’s done in easy to understand way and are done very tastefully. The host are clearly showing she has not a problem talking about this – its like the topic was the most natural thing to talk about – in theory it is (should be at least), but in practice not so much. Kudos to NRK and Line Jansrud. Well done!
